The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department), is seeking an appropriate institution to permanently house a number of endangered orchids (Paphiopedilum papilio-laoticus) which have recently been surrendered to the Commonwealth.
The departments preference is that the institutions hold the appropriate skills, knowledge and facilities to house the specimens. The institution would become the lawful owner, however the orchids cannot be traded/sold/swapped, they must remain the property of the receiving institution.
The institution may need to arrange and cover all costs associated with transport of the specimens. The department is unable to cover any costs.
If you are interested, please contact the department directly at wildlifetrade.compliance@awe.gov.au with the institutions expression of interest.
If you have any questions please contact Matthew on (02) 6275 9340.
