Inaugural BGANZ Arboriculture Professional Group (BARB) meeting

Inspired by the unifying themes of the 7GBGC and the work of groups such as BGCI’s Global Conservation Consortia, BCARM, and the Climate Alliance of Botanic Gardens, a group of arborists from the BGANZ network submitted a proposal to the BGANZ Member Committee to develop a pilot Professional Group to work together in advancing tree management and conservation across the BGANZ network.

With strong support from the Member Committee, the BGANZ Arboriculture Professional Group (BARB) will be holding its first introductory meeting on Tuesday 20 June 2023 at 12:30-1:30PM AEST.

The BARB group will run as a trial for 12 months and at this first meeting we aim to:

• Adopt BGANZ’s Professional Group Terms of Reference
• Allocate roles and decide on the frequency of meetings
• Identify which botanic gardens have dedicated arboriculture and tree conservation resourcing and which don’t
• Discuss short and long term aims and goals for the group.
