National Science Week:
12-20 August 2017

Get your visitors involved in National Science Week and reap the rewards for your garden!

Play the game:

The Great Australian Biodiversity Challenge will empower you to experience, learn about, and protect the wonder that is Australia's biodiversity. You'll be taken on an adventure into nature, where you'll see the life around you in a whole new light.

  • Experience nature on real outdoor adventures.

  • Learn life's secrets with expert feedback on all your sightings.

  • Help protect the environment as your sightings contribute to biodiversity research.

Use this poster and suggested social media and newsletter blurbs to recruit your team members.

Great rewards:

The botanic garden teams who score the highest for the week will share in $2,500.

There will also be $1100 in prizes for the organisations whose network of naturalists help to identify the most sightings. To be in the running:

  1. Ensure your garden is enrolled as a QuestaGame partner here,
  2. Ask your community to use our Bio-Expertise Engine to help identify sightings, and
  3. Ensure they select your botanic garden when they register as a Bio-Expert.

Even after National Science Week is over, you will continue to earn money for every correct ID provided by your community (learn more about QuestaGame's Pays To Know Nature Fund). Use the above promotional material to recruit your network of naturalists! Thousands of young budding naturalists will benefit from your community's expert knowledge!

There are also prizes for the best players and the top identifier.  See all prize details here.

Why not hold an event at your garden during National Science Week to give your team a head start?! Your team may enjoy a guided walk through the gardens to see what wildlife they can find. You may even have an experienced QuestaGamer on your team willing to share some tips. Note though that the challenge is about wild biodiversity, so cultivated plants won't earn any points. Good luck in the challenge!
